Gearing up for ICON

We have the ICON scifi convention this weekend. Nate and I got asked to do a few panels on podcasting and starting Warhammer and shit. These scifi nerds don't fuck around! Two of our time slots are 8pm, the whole thing runs until 2am! I'm hitting the road at 9am tomorrow, bound for Long Island (where my wife was born).

Hobby wise I slapped some paint on a few warriors of chaos to get my three color minimum for tonights Lancashire campaign game. Its 1000pts, and my list is way small!

Exalted: MoT, Berserker Sword, 5+ ward
Warshrine of Tzeentch
Warriors, 17: extra hand weapons
Warriors, 18: halberds

I kept this purposely small to paint it faster, plus they are an elite army anyway so I'm always outnumbered.

I also did a bit of painting to the chaplain, which I'm going to try and finish on Sunday. May be tough since I'm driving home Saturday night after the convention!

Pray to the Gods for my crushing victory on the battlefield!

The Majestic Badass

Not much to say except sorry for the glare I just couldn't get decent pics tonight. I stopped on the marble effect because I didn't want to overdo it.

I'm adding a patina to the bronze parts, just subtle though. I was going to try gold first, but it looked fey and not menacing enough. My wife gave the best compliment so far "he looks like a majestic badass". Lol, exactly what I wanted to hear!

WIP "Templars Sanguine" Chaplain

Ok so the idea here is to create dark grey marble armor. The rest of the chapter will have 50/50 red/black armor and I wanted the Chaplain to really stand out. Black is of course menacing, but since this is a hybrid, variant yet codex centered chapter (yeah figure that shit out) I want it to really have a sacred, hallowed feel.

This is extremely wip, marbling doesn't seem too difficult yet it takes patience and a lot of painting. I think my next step is to go back and add a few more dark spots and soften the white a bit. I think the hairline veins will really pop, but some variation looks more natural.

I also primed 10 Grey Hunters, dark grey. I'll start putting some paint on them Friday night. Saturday is already lost to St Patrick's Day plus I have to work Saturday night kicking ass at the bar.

But now time to sleep and then tomorrow night is a 500pt WHFB game at Lancashire!

The Emperor Protects, beeyotch!
