Big Changes

This post is a general catch up, shit be going crazy up in this bitch!

First off the last three weeks have been horrible. I had three potential careers slip through my fingers, two of which would've been dream jobs, the third at least something I could've enjoyed in lieu of having a dream job. First up was the opportunity to teach Martial Arts full time, a chance I never got to try as the place hired a friend. Second was a decision to pursue law enforcement. This would've combined my love of hurting people with my desire to help people. But alas, apparently having 20/2500+ vision does not sit well with police departments. Third, and most disappointing was my very real shot at working for GW as a sculptor. After many tense weeks of waiting, I was denied. It felt very much how Lorgar mustve felt when the Emperor bitch slapped him. So needless to say, quite a depressing few weeks. However there ate some bright spots...

I haven't gotten much hobbying done lately because my wife and I are moving! In mid May we are finally leaving Emperor-forsaken Lancaster County and the goddamn Amish Separatists behind and starting a new life in Drexel Hill, a suburb outside of Philadelphia.

We got a nice townhouse that is a big step up for us, and also will afford me my own hobby room, henceforth known as the War Chamber. Its a small room compared to my friend Stavrous/articblurv2 game room, but it will work! First order of business? Tables! I can't wait to lay out all of my game material and turn that room into a Mechanicus workshop!

I am sad to leave behind the newer gaming group I started going to, but we'll only be 1.5hrs away so I can visit and game. The podcast will resume normal broadcasting again, though I will be via remote Skype call. Nates a sound wizard so I'm sure we'll still have good quality sound!

So that's about it. The next post will be hobby related I promise!

The Final Majesty

Finished! I'm going to put him aside for a week or so then come back and look over it again. I'm driving myself crazy with all the details I missed. But he's finished.

I had a lot of good advice on this model, thank you if you left comments here or on twitter! I took some advice given and seriously contemplated all of it. I decided in the end to keep him this dark. Since he's a chaplain (and will be my reclusiarch besides) and is not in traditional black, I wanted him to retain the grim/dark colors. I'm still on the fence about the crozius handle in red, I can definitely see how that would tie in, so I may change that in the end but I am satisfied with the overall feel of the model, if not with my so-so painting skills.

In other work, I'm painting a grey hunter pack, not too exciting yet but hopefully will be soon. I'm also sorting my final count of blood angels so I can see what work I have ahead of me. The grey knights may hit the table again soon, kind of have to itch to paint them as well. This is the Curse, too many projects not enough time! I'm a beast at assembling an army quickly but I fall apart when its time to clean moldlines and that shit. And I paint really slowly!

In final news, my wife got a new job, so we are moving to Philadelphia! Found a nice place in the suburbs that we're trying to get but the other great thing is ilk have more opportunity to pursue the warrior side of my life, in martial arts. So the podcast will definitely continue, my hobby will slow for a bit but not suffer, and there you have it!

Not what you think. Not yet anyway. This is my first ever video tutorial on sculpting. This is possibly the worst, most ghetto setup of all time, but I think the point gets across. If you like it and want more videos, maybe I'll get a nicer camera and have proper lighting and all that.

Majestic Badass: Done?

Here he is! I'm about ready to be done with this model. All I can see are the flaws, but I am happy to have gotten this far. What do you think? Anything really glaring that I'm missing?
